Hey! I am Cristi,
A Professional DP / Cinematographer
My journey into videography is rooted in a strict balance of technical precision and creative vision. Building Lumen Vids has been about merging those two worlds — combining an engineering mindset with cinematic storytelling. My ultimate goal is to create a seamless, welcoming experience, from our first coffee to the final 4K render. I obsess over the technical details, from the glass to the lighting, so that my clients can focus entirely on the creative vision.
01. The Base of Operations
While my primary base is here in Cluj-Napoca, the true workspace is wherever the project demands. Whether we are shooting a stylized commercial indoors or capturing documentary-style footage on location, I bring a highly adaptable, professional atmosphere to every set. The goal is always to create a structured but relaxed environment where the production flows easily, naturally, and on schedule.
02. Behind the Lens
Lumen Vids operates as a dedicated, independent studio. When we collaborate, you are working directly with me, Cristi Gujan, through every phase of the project. Operating as a solo creative director and technical operator means nothing gets lost in translation. From the initial storyboard and camera operation to the final cut in the editing suite, I manage the entire creative pipeline to ensure an uncompromising, consistent standard.
03. The Technical Loadout
A cinematic image requires more than just hitting record — it requires a deep understanding of the tools. I rely on a strictly optimized rig, paired with a manual follow-focus system for absolute control. The glass is just as important as the camera body. Depending on the project’s visual needs, I frequently swap ultra-sharp modern lenses for specialized optics — like a vintage Helios 44-2 — to capture a highly specific, organic aesthetic with natural character.
04. The Color Suite
The final visual identity is locked in during post-production. By shooting in flat S-Log color profiles, I retain maximum dynamic range and lighting data from the set. In the editing bay, I use DaVinci Resolve for rigorous, node-based color grading. Rather than relying on generic presets, I build custom cinematic grades — often incorporating rich, vintage film emulations and deep shadows — to ensure the final footage has a distinct, premium finish.
